Production Story
It is made from vintage black linen fabric adding the antique and sophisticated touch.
Saeksilnubi decoration is quilted color silk thread as an accent to the product.
Craftman Lee Deokeun uses deciduous trees called Sappanwood as a type of hand-dye stuff for the reddish-colored fabrics.
While quilting with Saeksilnubi, one can feel the richness in the colors of autumn.
The 'DIY Customized Clutch, Nubiwa Series' is a decorative quilted kit created
in collaboration with Deogeun Lee craftman,
She won the Presidential Prize at the 43rd Korea Annual Traditional Handcraft Competition
for her 'Saeksilnubi' product.
Saeksilnubi is one of Korea's traditional quiling techniques.
The key feature of the traditional technique is the use of diverse colored thread expressing the decorative work.
DIY Customized Clutch Kit of Nubiwa series will provide fine silk threads in 12 colors.
After a long day stress, make some time to relax and relieve stress by quilting.

1. what's Included
Clutch of 'Nubiwa Bom',
Outer Layer
(a starched fabric sized 8x18cm consisting of an outer layer(8x8cm) and four bias tapes(8x2.5cmx4pieces)),
Inner Layer
(a 8x8cm piece of fabric which is used to sandwich the cotton rope with the outer layer on the other side),
Silk Thread
(to make stitches in 12 different colors),
Cotton Rope
(to create volume by being placed between outer and inner layers) ,
Needles
(Short one : basic needles to use / Long one : for applications that short needles are not suitable for),
Thick Needle
(to create clean lines by pressing the cotton rope in between the outer and inner layers),
Needle Threader
(to thread needles with ease by placing the wire through the eye of the needle, looping the thread through the needle threader wire and pulling thread through the eye of the needle)

2. Features of the 'DIY Cusomized Clutch, Nubiwa' Series
1) Select clutch according to personal preferences
2) Select color for an outer layer (optional)
3) Select one pattern of the 4 options from the 'Pattern Design Guide' kit.
3. Options (Outer Layers)
- Reddish Hand-dyed Fabric (Nubiwa Gael's representative look) :
Lee Deokeun provided the hand-dyed fabric used Sappanwood as the main ingredient.
Please note that the artist glued the fabric herself and stains occurring in the process are not a reason for exchange or
return as it is invisible after quilting.
- White Hologram:
This is a white holographic fabric with a pearl-colored feel.
Outer layer is glued for use in the case of Saeksilnubi in general.
However it is not applied here due to the feature of the fabric.
A thin cotton string is provided.
The fabric may crease, but please note that this does not affect the process and results.
- Blasck / Gray Cotton :
20 thread cotton fabric with spray glue.
4. Size
Clutch : 23 x 14 cm
※ The shape of the clutch may vary slightly due to handmade sewing.
Outer Fabric : 8 x 18cm (Including Bias)
※ The finished size for the carrying case will be 6cm x 6cm after quilting the outer fabric together.
Tip : The outer fabric will shrink while quilting the pieces together.
5. The Interior of the Clutch
The interior lining is finished off with a satin cloth and two interior card slots.

Three video clips are provided to support your work.
Even beginners are able to try to make traditional way of saeksilnubi
